We’re sure many of you have received a great deal of (really annoying) emails these past few weeks regarding GDPR. Plenty of companies worldwide are changing the way they handle private information from people like you and me, and that’s thanks to a new revision of data protection law known as GDPR.
To date, this GDPR law only affects citizens of the European Union (EU). However, Fuel50 believes everyone should have the right to digital privacy! Thus, in our efforts at being GDPR-compliant, we’d like to let our entire global community know that, as far as we’re concerned, everyone comes under these new GDPR rules!
So, what does this mean for you?
Well, we’ve had to make a few changes to how we handle certain bits of your information when you visit our website. When you visit one of our landing pages that hosts some exclusive content or downloadable material, you’ll be asked to submit some personal information – name, email, phone, job title, company etc. We do not store this information anywhere on our website. Instead, this information is sent to our marketing team as a one-time notification (this isn’t stored anywhere) to let us know you’re enjoying our stuff! That’s fair, right? From there, one of our direct team members (otherwise known as Fuellies) may be in touch to see how you liked that piece of content. You don’t have to respond to us, and you can even tell us at this point to leave you alone – we promise we won’t be offended.
Rest assured we will never add you to our marketing email chain unless you tick the box that asks if you’d like to subscribe to us. We have some really awesome research and an incredible community of thought-leaders which we share with our community on a weekly basis, so it’s no wonder so many people actually choose to opt-in each week – but if you don’t want to hear from us regularly, we totally understand.
If you do subscribe, great! Just know that you can unsubscribe (opt-out) at any time using the links in the emails we send you or you can ask us directly (via firstname.lastname@example.org). We’ll action any requests within two working days, pronto!
It’s a slightly different story if you purchase something via our online store. We need a bit more information to process payments and ship goods to you. But again, this information isn’t stored by us – we use PayPal, a super secure platform that specializes in financial transactions and handle sensitive data – better to leave that stuff to the experts!
The bottom line is, we don’t want to risk storing your data in a place where someone else could potentially get hold of it illegally – so we don’t. Simple as that. And we’ve made sure subscribing to us is crystal clear, we’ll never add you to our marketing email chain unless you really want to!
If you ever want to know what information we have of you, or if you’d like us to completely erase that information forever, we’re just a simple email away!
Here’s to a better, more private online environment where everyone has rights! Not just those in the EU (but thanks for these awesome laws, of course).
